Vacuum distillation uses a takeoff of molecular distillation to separate water from oil. This process can be used to dry oils to less than 10 PPM residual water. The Mini-Vac, Dyna-Vac, and Smart-Vac are all standard purifiers with a flow rate of 300, 600 and 1200 or 1800 gph respectively.
What sets FilterDyne apart from other filter companies is the complete line of systems that remove water from oils, fuels, and solvents. We produce the most technically advanced vacuum distillation equipment available today to remove water from oil at high rates. Dryness levels of less than 100 ppm are easily obtained with our standard line of vacuum distillation systems (858's) and 10 ppm is obtained with our line of Hi-Vacs. In addition, we also make some of the more common filter systems for water removal, such as coalescers, gravity separators, and chemical absorbents.
The flagship of our product line is the 858 vacuum distillation equipment. Vacuum distillation is the technique of elevating the temperature slightly above normal operating condition, typically around 150 degrees F. The heated oil is then filtered to remove particulate and exposed to vacuum in a vacuum chamber. For lubricating and hydraulic oils, the vacuum chamber pressure is held at 27 inches (100 mm) mercury absolute. Under these low pressures, water will distill from within the oil. Oil can be dried to less the 100 ppm (.01%) residual water. Dielectric oils are dried in vacuum chambers held at pressures of only .5 to 1 mm of mercury. Under these pressures, dielectric oil used by the utility industry can be dried to less the 10 ppm.
Return to Previous PageFilterDyne also offers a complete lubrication console. These devices not only include the necessary filtration devices for particulate and water removal, they also include all the pumps tanks and controls. Lube consoles are used by plants that need a constant flow at a controlled temperature and pressure for the lubrication of plain or anti-friction bearings. We enjoy a strong business from OEM's that provide rotating machinery to the paper, power and primary metal industries. One of our better markets has been the replacement of old grease-lubricated systems with oil-circulation systems. We have made significant strides towards integrating the vacuum distillation technology into the oil-circulation consoles. Because of this innovation, we have altered the way many factories design lube consoles. In the past, it used to be a standard to build large oil tanks and let gravity do the water and dirt separation. We have shown that small tanks are much more economical when used with our 858 vacuum distillation systems. We have been involved in ASTM, STLE and TAPPI regarding recommended practices of lube oil system design.
Return to Previous PageThe backbone of any filtration company has a line of housing which hold the filter elements. We make about 6 standard sizes to hold 1, 2, 3, 6, or 12 filter elements.
Return to Previous PagePortable or small point-of-use filters:
Filter vessels can be mounted with a pump and motor set and used with the filter elements to remove dirt, scale, rust, metal particles, etc. In addition solid particle filtration, FilterDyne is one of the few companies that can supply filter elements with proper media to absorb dyes, acids, surfactants, or water.
Return to Previous PageFilter elements, sometimes called filter cartridges, are used to remove hard particles by mechanical separation. In addition, these cartridges can be filled with granular absorbents to remove polar compounds.
